At 76 years, CUP is the oldest student news service in the world and North America’s oldest student press cooperative. Our archives comprise of documents dating back to the 1940s. They show the history of campus press and student life over the past eight decades.

Upon moving this spring, we decided to donate our history to Carleton University Archives and Research Collections to better preserve our historic records and make them to be accessible to students and public who wish to access them.

Carleton has permission to digitize and display CUP’s archives — and we really hope they do! CUP’s history is compelling, fraught with exciting stories of tumultuous times on campus and should be mandatory reading for every student journalist.
