Spring 2010 ORPUCbeq

March 5-7 in Montreal, Quebec.

The Link is pleased to invite you to "Between the Lines", the Spring 2010 Ontario, Quebec and French regional CUP conference. This conference will focus on how to take the writing and interviewing skills you've learned at previous conferences and take them further. In addition, this conference will be hosted in conjunction with the Link's 30th anniversary celebration.

Guest lecturers such as the Globe & Mail's international reporter Gloria Galloway, Rue Frontenac's Marilou Seguin, The Associated Press' Mark Smith and former Link editor of Shawinigate fame Andrew McIntosh will show students what social, cultural and communicative barriers journalists face every day that are not communicated between the lines of your average 12-inch news story.

Our Canadian University Press regional conference will welcome academics and students from all over the Quebec and Ontario regions including French schools. "Between the Lines" will host thought-provoking lectures by experienced journalists who are: working in varied social conditions; reporting from war zones; advocating for independent media; and battling with how to decide what qualifies as news every day.

We will offer speakers, talks and seminars in both official languages to those attending that explore the topic of the influence and role that media organizations can and do play in social discourse. In this way, we at The Link hope to serve as ambassadors for both Concordia University and the city of Montreal.
